Explore Wuxi National Water Scenic Area

Wuxi is a waterfront city. There are a total of 12 national and provincial water scenic areas, which have beautiful waves and lush mountains. Today, let’s discover the seven national water scenic areas to see the rhyme of flowing water.

1. Meilianghu Lake

Meilianghu Lake Scenic Area is composed of Meilianghu Lake and the mountains along the lake. The shoreline is winding, the mountains are surrounded by water, and a vast expanse of water, showing the beauty of the Taihu Lake.

2. Jiangyin Furonghu Lake

The Furonghu Lake National Water Scenic Area, which relies on the ancient Furong Lake aggradation dike, located in the west of Yuecheng, Jiangyin. The rivers in the scenic area are vertical and horizontal, and the water surface is wide, presenting a “丰” word in the landscape.

3. Yixing Hengshan Reservoir

Hengshan Reservoir located in the Taihua mountainous area, Yili, southwest of Yixing. It is an impoundment project of the Zhixihe River in the Taihu Basin. The upper reaches of the reservoir area are a wetland, and many trees grow in the water, forming a unique natural landscape water forest.

4. Yixing Zhuhai

Zhuhai is the National Water Scenic Area very rich in water resources, including Jinghu Lake, the source of Taihu Lake, Puhutan Lake, etc. Besides, Jinghu Lake exists a large number of living fossil “Craspedacusta” (jellyfish) that are 1.5 billion years ago, which has extremely high scientific and ornamental value.

5. Yixing Huadong Baichang

Huadong Baichang is the typical remain of a mining pit. Look around the scenery, the sky and the water are connected, the mountains and the water serve as a foil to each other, and there are mountains and clouds reflect in the lake.

6. Changguangxi

Changguangxi has been a shortcut to Wuxi through the Wuli Lake from the Outer Taihu Lake since ancient times. During the Three Kingdoms period, Sun Quan of Soochow excavated and dredged the Changguangxi, built water conservancy, developed agriculture and fishery, and turned it into a water channel through Taihu Lake and Lihu Lake.

7. Lianghong Wetland

At the end of the 11th century common era, Taibo, the eldest son of King Zhou, give up the throne and went east to Meili, excavating the Bodu River, the first artificial river in Chinese history. Lianghong Water Conservancy Scenic Area rests quietly beside Bodu River.
